Going strong in new surroundings
For a Hannah Going, a new senior at Cotter, connecting with people has been easier than navigating the campus.
“The people are nice, but the classes are hard to find,” she said, in reference to getting oriented to her new surroundings.
Hannah was born in Salt Lake, Utah, on April 23, 1998. Her family lived in Salt Lake for four years, then later moved to Wisconsin. Hannah and her family moved to Winona when she was seven years old.
Going previously attended Hope Lutheran, one of the reasons for her switch was to attend a slightly larger school, as there were only nine other kids in herĀ grade at Hope.
She enjoyed playing soccer at her old school, more than basketball because “[she] was able to just take [her] anger out on the ball.” She enjoys drawing and painting in her free time, and she likes theater a lot. She played piano in second grade, but only knowing how to listen to a song and play it back, never learned how to read music.
Hannah is currently involved in choir and show choir, and recently auditioned for the fall musical.
She lives with her mom and her mom’s fiance in Minnesota City, along with her four siblings, Grace, Caity, Jonathon, and Sam.
Hannah is planning to pursue an elementary education degree and hopes to one day be a kindergarten teacher.
