Kelly “Clutch” Vaselaar Goes Out In Style
Some people are just born to make plays; Kelly Vaselaar is one of those people.
In her last game at Bowlin Field, tied 4-4 against rival Saint Charles with two outs to go, Vaselaar smashed the ball down the first base line and drove in Brittany Meier to take the lead.
The Ramblers would then go on to win the game 5-4. “I was just trying to hit the ball hard into the gap,” said Vaselaar, “the pitch was high and to the right.”
The Ramblers eliminated Lake City on Monday to advance to Wednesday’s game with the Saints.
When asked if it felt good to go out this way, Vaselaar replied “Yes, it really does.”
The Ramblers next test will come in Elgin on Friday at 4pm against rival Caledonia/Spring Grove.
Coach Pat Bowlin highlighted this game at the beginning of the year, so it is only fitting both teams are playing each other.
“We need to play good defense and hit the ball,” said Vaselaar, “that is how we will win.”
