HEF scholarship tradition continues
Each Cotter graduate has the opportunity to receive a renewable scholarship funded by the Hiawatha Education Foundation.
Sr. Judy and Mr. Forney presented students with the scholarships at a recent assembly after Mr.John Broadwater, from Cotter’s financial office, explained how the scholarships work.
This scholarship program has been around for 25 years and there are two requirements: students must graduate from Cotter and write a personal essay relating the activities they have participated in at Cotter.
The scholarship is based on ACT scores and improvement, GPA, the activities essay, and how many years you have attended Cotter.
Mr. Broadwater sends the scholarship directly to the students’ colleges each year, and the scholarship does not count against any other aid a student may be receiving.
“This is a really rare scholarship and I don’t think any other schools has a program like this, we are the only school,”said Broadwater.
Many seniors expressed gratitude for this scholarship as it provides both financial assistance and motivation. can really help and motivates me to work hard through my college years as well.
