Vaselaar finishes in Top 8 in State

People may not expect a freshman to make much of an impact wrestling at the varsity level, those people have obviously never met Jack Vaselaar.

Vaselaar placed in the top 8 at this past weekend’s Minnesota State wrestling tournament.

After winning  in his first match in double overtime,Jack alternated wins and loses for the rest of the weekend.

Vaselaar, a freshman, earned a great deal of experience that should help propel him into next season.

“I knew what to expect because I went just to watch last year,” said Vaselaar, “watching this year was fun, but wrestling was the best part.”

After his second win Jack thought he had a shot at a 3rd place medal, but he wasn’t able to win the fourth match. Vaselaar knows he’ll take the positive momentum of his State appearance and bring an even stronger work ethic to his training in order to return to the meet. Jack is looking forward for the opportunity and is ready to get back to work.
