New Year, Same You
BREAKING NEWS: You’re still the same person, with the same bad habits as last year.
Unless you are incredibly motivated and dedicated to altering your life for the better, developing New Year’s resolutions is completely pointless. Instead, we should all take efforts to change the things we don’t like about ourselves as they make themselves present.
If you want to change something about you, your lifestyle, or your habits, you need to choose to change right away. Don’t wait for a mythical tomorrow to do what you could do today. Putting change off will only allow you to continue and develop more bad habits, which results in more resolutions to be made. It’s a slippery slope that is completely avoidable.
Creating resolutions at the start of each year is a pointless tradition. Why use all your resources to waste your time, when you could be getting something done with your life? You spend time, money, and extensive effort setting goals so extreme you’re only setting yourself up to fail miserably- only to repeat the process yet again next year. See the problem?
However, if you personally feel as if resolutions are realistic in your life, and you can stay on track with them, go ahead and set your goals for the New Year. Set a goal within your reach. Don’t set yourself up to fail. Set a goal you know you can achieve, and set a time limit on achieving that goal to stay motivated. And once that goal is crossed out, done? Sit down and write another one.
