Cotter senior Allyssa Williams was recently awarded the 2023 Mike Warter Scholarship recipient by the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association.

The scholarship is given to two Minnesota seniors, a boy and a girl, who are committed to playing soccer in college, have been excellent students, and are leaders in their communities.

Allyssa will be attending St. Cloud State and playing soccer there next fall.

The scholarship is named in honor of Mike Warter who was the Eagan girls coach and died in 2000. Cotter coach Marie Barrientos played on a summer traveling team for Coach Warter.

“It was special to win this award, both for the award and what it represents, but also because of Marie’s connection to Coach Warter, which made the scholarship extra special,” Allyssa said.
