Girls advance to semifinals with win over PEM
Cotter advanced to the section semifinal with a 66-52 victory over Plainview-Elgin Millville on Tuesday, March 1, at the Mayo Civic Center Arena.
Cotter going into the game was 20-4, and PEM was 18-8. These teams matched up earlier in the year as the Ramblers ended up winning 61-51.
While the final score looks convincing the win was anything but easy, as the Ramblers came out cold and didn’t take the lead until Sofia Sandcork hit a 3 with 7 minutes left in the first half to put them up 13-10.
Despite the cold shooting to start the game, the Ramblers used their defense to generate offense and shot the ball well in the second half to take control the game.
The Ramblers had 4 players in double figures with sophomore Ava Killian leading the way with 15, senior Sofia Sandcork with 13, senior Olivia Gardner and Allyssa Williams each had 11.
The #3 seeded Ramblers will face #2 seed Rochester Lourdes at the Mayo Civic auditorium at 1:30 on Saturday, March 5. #1 seed Goodhue faces off with #5 Lake City in the other semifinal.
