Whyte has strong showing at State meet

Cotter junior Morgan Whyte had an exceptional finish to her junior year on the combined Cotter-WSHS swim team. After finishing 26th overall in the state meet, Whyte is more than proud of her finish.

“I didn’t have a goal as to a place where I wanted to finish, I just wanted to do my best and see what happened,” said Whyte.

After competing in her third state meet, Whyte did admit that this year wasn’t the same as the previous two. “This year was different than last year in that I was the only qualifier on the team. Last year we had about 6 girls competing at State.”

There was more on the road to state than just showing up though, there was much more training involved than there was during the regular season.

“We had two practices a day (an hour and a half session before school and 2 hours after school) I would swim in the mornings on Monday, Wednesday  and Friday, and lift on Tuesday and Thursday in the mornings.”

Cotter is proud that Morgan and her Cotter teammates represented the school so well, and we look forward to an even stronger showing next year.  Great work, Morgan!
