Tornados, munchkins, flying monkeys–they’re all present in this year’s fall musical is The Wizard of Oz.

Performances begin Friday,  November 7, and run through Sunday, November 11. The cast is hard at work to make this year’s musical live up to the high expectations set by the classic film.

“The play is off to a great start so far” Corey Beyer,  who plays the Scarecrow, said.

“Now that fall sports are over, everyone in the cast is able to be at practice, so now people are in their spots and we’re getting used to what the play is actually supposed to look like, instead of having Mr. Roeckers just read the lines.”

“It’s a very fun musical.” Brynn Spitzer (Dorothy), said. “I’m really enjoying it. The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite movies, I never thought I would actually get to be Dorothy. I’m so excited for opening night!”

The play also features the jitterbugs, dancers that were filmed but cut from the 1939 movie, so there will be something new for audience members who have memorized the movie.

The first two  shows are at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8.   The final show is at  2 p.m. on Sunday, November 9.  The show will take place in Saint Cecilia Theatre, which is right across Wabasha street from the John Nett Center.  Follow the yellow brick road and come support your fellow students!
