Up in the Clouds
For those who want a good, heartfelt movie, Disney recently released a new film called “Clouds” to fulfill that wish.
“Clouds” came out on October 16, 2020 on Disney+. The movie stars Sabrina Carpenter as Sammy Brown and Fin Argus as Zach Sobiech.
Based on a true story, the movie follows the life of a high school student named Zach Sobiech who is dying of bone cancer. During his last year of high school, his family struggles to make life normal for him despite the fact that he knows he is dying soon. He decides to make the most of his last couple months of his life, and he and his best friend, Sammy start writing songs, and one of the songs ends takes off after being posted on YouTube.
Eventually Zach ends up writing the song “Clouds”, hence the name of the movie. He is inspired on his flight home from Lourdes when flying over the clouds, but the song is also about the deeper reality of death. Zach knows his illness is terminal and his song is a way of coping with his cancer.
My first reaction to this movie was sadness too but I also found a lot of depth in the movie. It is inspiring to see a teenager learn how to cope with living with terminal cancer.
If you need to watch something sad but beautiful, I suggest watching “Clouds.” The movie is touching and challenges watchers to dig deeper and take a moment to reflect on what is truly important in life.
