Former Cotter Teacher Publishes Prayer Book

Former Cotter religion teacher Chris Collins recently published “3 Moments of the Day,” encouraging readers to reflect on their day through prayer.

Teaching Cotter Religion was Collin’s first job out of college. From 1994-1995 Collin’s was part of the Cotter famil, prior to joining the Jesuits.

Collins noted his Cotter connection in describing the intended purpose of  “3 Moments of the Day”.

“In part, the Three Moments book is an encouragement to look back on exactly those memories, both distant ones and more recent ones on a daily basis to pay attention to where God has been present, where I’ve experienced love and freedom and also where I’ve denied those gifts as well. It’s a book on the spirituality of offering the little things of the day to the Lord and remembering the little things as well.”

Collins recalls all the great memories he had at Cotter. “One stand out memory is when Joel Corcoran “stole my bike from outside (it was never locked) and placed it in the middle of the classroom when I came back from lunch for an afternoon class. It took a while to get the class calmed down after that. OK, it never calmed down.”

He still keeps in touch with several former students.

“I was young and didn’t necessarily know what I was doing in the classroom but I found the students excellent as human beings and interested as students,” Collins recalls how grateful he is for his time at Cotter.

“I’m grateful for this chance to remember a bit of my Cotter time right now! Thanks very much. I hope everyone is doing well.”
