Prayer service — a new start to Thursday mornings

Each  Thursday morning Cotter now starts the day with  an all-school prayer service in the Saint Cecilia theatre.

“As an administration, we thought it’d be nice for the school to get together for about ten minutes and take part in prayer” Dave Forney, principal of Cotter, said. “Personally, I find it very relaxing and a great way to kick my morning off.”

The services are usually led by Sr. Judy, who is also very excited for this opportunity.

“It’s really a great thing we have going on here” she said. “These services really bring out the community that is apart of Cotter. Everyone is there, high school and junior high kids, all of the faculty, nobody is left out because that’s what Cotter’s really about.”

If Sr. Judy is on a business trip or has a conflict, Mr. Forney is always willing to take her place and lead the service himself.

“I like to lead the services too.” Forney said. “It’s always nice to have Judy up there, but if she can’t make it, I really do enjoy taking her place. The kids, most of the time, are very attentive and it’s great  to see the student body being so focused on prayer.”

A few issues have come about with the prayer services, also. “I don’t like how the “A” day schedule is different from the “B” day schedule.” said senior Molly Corcoran-Sanders. “It’s really confusing since I’m used to the A/B day schedules being the same.”

“The problem I have with the morning service is the morning part.” says junior Isaiah Meurer. “I’d like it better if we could put it in the afternoon slot we have available. I’m just way too grumpy in the morning.”

“I don’t really have a problem with them” senior Katie Grover said. “ It’s a very nice way to start out my morning, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
