Cross country getting ready for the homestretch

A week before the conference meet, two weeks before sections, and three weeks before the State meet the Cotter cross country team is hoping to save their best for last.

The cross country team has had a outstanding season so far; led by captains Wil Modjeski of the boys team and Grace Ping of the girls team,

 

“Early on I was encouraged by the team’s optimism, unfortunately it has reached its peak. It is my hope that we continue the success we’ve had as we round out the season,” Wil Modjeski said.

 

“I think we’ve had a really good season so far, but the team needs to work on staying focused with a positive attitude,” Grace Ping said.

 

“The teams have been competing well and we’re happy to have increased numbers for both groups this year, but in order to stay competitive we still need to increase our numbers in the program,” Coach Costello said.

 

Cotter athletes were invited to the Griak invitational meet on September 29th 2018, which is hosted by the University of Minnesota. Many of the top teams and individuals in the state are invited to the evnet.

The girls were the top finishing Class A team, finishing 13th and ahead of last year’s state champions Perham. ‘

Lauren Ping was 4th with a 1*;15 and Grace Ping,6th with 18:18 and Morgan Arnold was 21st. Will Modjeski was 184th of 487 and ran a 19:00.1

The team runs at Plainview on October 9, and the Three Rives meet is at Lewiston on October 16.
