Track and Field team earns many all-conference honors

A number of Cotter athletes achieved Three Rivers All Conference”  honors for Track and Field.

On Saturday, May 11, 2018, the Cotter track and field athletes participated in the conference meet in Rushford, Minnesota, hosted by Rushford-Peterson high school.

Among the “All Conference Athletes” are the following girls:

Morgan Arnold :  9th grade winner of the of 1600 meter race in a time of 5;35 and member of the 4×800 team.

Grace Ping:  9th grader won the 3200 meters setting a new meet record with a time of 10:32. She was also a member of the winning  4×800 team and participated in the 4×400.

Lauren Ping : 7th grade winner of the open 800 meter race,  just 2 tenths of a second short of the school record held by Paige Gernes. Lauren also ran a leg of the winning 4×800 race.

Aubrey Williams : 9th grader, the 4th member of the 4×800 team and placed second to Grace in the 3200 meter race passing three runners in the final lap.

Claire Nichols : 11th grader finished 2nd in thelong Jump, only 3 inches away from the school record.  She also scored points by finishing 5th  in the 100m dash and ran the anchor leg of the 4×100 relay.

Chris Kwak passes the baton to Garet Grant

Garet Grant: senior finished the 4×800 meter relay in second place, Garet also took 4th in the 1600 meters, and ran the anchor placing third in  4×400 relay.

Chris Kwak: junior finished the 4×800 meter relay in second place, placed third  in  4×400 relay, and placed 8th  in the 4×200 meter relay.

 

Will Modjeski : junior finished the 4×800 meter relay in second place, placed third place in  4×400 relay, finished the 800 metes in third place  in 2:07.

Talyn Gilbertson: junior finished the 4×800 meter relay in second place, placed third in  4×400 relay, finished seventh place in the  300 hurdles, and placed 8th in long jump.

The team hosts a meet in Winona at Paul Giel Field on Thursday, May 17, prior to competing in sub-sections and sections.
