Tien-Hsin (Tiffany) Wang amazes at senior recital
Tien-Hsin (Tiffany) Wang put on a virtuoso flute recital that truly amazed her audience.
On April 15, the Cotter senior”s flute recital was held in St. Cecilia Theatre. The program she was doing on the recital are as following: “Fantasie on Themes from “Der Freischutz” by Paul Taffanel, “Sonata for Flute, Movement 1” by Samuel Zyman, “Hypnosis” by Ian Clarke”, Fantasie Italienne” by Eugene Bozza, “Flute Concerti No.1 in G Major, K313” by W.A. Mozart, and “Fantasie Brilliante” from “Carmen”” by Franocis Borne. The performance lasted one hour.
Tien-Sin (Tiffany) Wang is an international students from Hsinchu, Taiwan. This is her 12th year playing flute. For her flute schedule, she practices an hour every day in the music room of dorm, almost all the dorm students have ever heard her flute music coming from the music room.
Every two weeks, Tiffany had a 2-hour class with her flute instructor, Janet Heukeshoven. Heukeshoven helped her select some of the pieces for the recital and structured the line-up to give the feel of a traditional recital. She was accompanied on piano by St. Stan’s band director Tara Welch.
“We went through whole list of the recital more than five times two weeks before the concert occurs, and 2 times on stage,” Wang said.
Tiffany was recently awarded the John Philip Sousa Award by Mr. Meurer, the director of Cotter Band as the outstanding senior in the concert band.
“Her fantastic skill amazed me,” said Jay Choi, who was in the audience for Tiffany’s flute recital.
