Boys basketball ready for a rebound

The boys basketball team finished their first week with a 1-1 record and are hoping to build towards more success before the Christmas break, by improving defense and using an experienced line-up to get the job done.

The team opened their season on December 5 with their first game vs Lacresent taking a 74-59 loss.

“It was frustrating but many players contributed well on the offensive side”  Coach Tom Zukowski said.  “Overall, the effort throughout the game was very good, we made some mistakes but we will learn from them.”

Josiah Sandcork, a senior from Hope Lutheran who is co-opting with Cotter basketball, and Connor Zukowski contributed big numbers against Lacresent.

Parker Nelton, a returning senior, contributed both offensively and defensively. “Our bench was solid and provided us with energy and offense,” says Coach Zukowski.

Ramblers responded with a a 71-62 win over Coulee Christian on Friday, December 9, evening their record to 1-1.

A key to the boys season success is confidence. “This team has great potential and needs to believe in themselves and their teammates for us to continue to have success” says Coach Z.

The team’s five seniors will play a big part of keeping this team confident and committed.  “We play in a really hard conference so defense will be key as we continue in conference play,” senior captain Connor Zukowski stated.

The team’s first home game at the John Nett Center is  Tuesday, December 12, at 7:30pm vs a perennially strong Caledonia team.
