Girls fall to Chatfield in semifinal game

After a successful season the girls basketball season came to an abrupt and disappointing end.

Chatfield defeated Cotter 58-24 in the subsection semifinal game on Tuesday.

Cotter was down the whole game game. As head coach Pat Bowlin said to the Winona Daily news. “They completely dominated the game.”

Cotter had a fan bus of over 60 people travel to the Civic Center to watch the girls. The fans were energized from the moment they walked into the gym.

Gabby Bowlin led the Ramblers with 10 points. Julia Charron added five points, seven rebounds and five steals.

The Chatfield girls, who remain undefeated, will play the number two seed P-EM Bulldogs for a chance to go to state.

Guards Gabby Bowlin and Kelly Vaselaar had this to say of their season.: “We won a good amount of games. Our conference was tough this year so we played well.” Chatfield PEM and Dover were all state ranked teams, it is Cotter’s first year in the Three Rivers Conference, having moved from the Hiawatha Valley league to reduce travel time..

“We will have good chemistry, and we have to work hard. We’ll be good if we do that,” Gabby said, looking forward to next year.
