Steven Stevenson named Top Notch Teacher

For the month of November, Mr. Steven Stevenson can be seen driving around town in a fancy car with the words “Top Notch Teacher”.

Stevenson, a Cotter English teacher and counselor, was named WKBT’s Top Notch Teacher for November. Each month, LaCrosse news station WKBT selects a teacher to honor in the area based on nominations from students.

“It was a nice surprise,” Mr. Stevenson said. “It was especially nice to get because students nominated me.”

Mr. Stevenson also receives the Top Notch Teacher car for the month of November. The car is provided by Honda Motorwerks of La Crosse.

Stevenson said when his son, Nicholas, saw the car, he “laughed for a while”.

“The car is handy for solo trips,” Stevenson noted.

In September of 2018, Mr. Stevenson will attend a banquet of all teachers who received the Top Notch Teacher recognition.

Stevenson was also featured on WKBT-TV, and students Ben Herber and Ben Windley-Daust were interviewed.

“The nicest thing was to see my children excited that dad was on TV,” Stevenson said.
