Band prepped for Homecoming field show

Cotter Marching band, directed by Andrew Meurer, has been preparing for the homecoming field show which will be performed at halftime of the game versus land at the WSU Altra federal Credit Union field on WSU campus on Friday, October 13.

The marching band has been in action and practicing since the beginning of the summer. They have performed in several parades such as Lake Crystal (1st place), Owatonna (2nd place), Laconia (2nd place), Alexandria (2nd place), and Calgary, Canada (overall champion) at the Calgary Stampede parade.

They will be performing the song, “Quidam” arranged by Jay Dawson, which is a story about a girl who is pulled into a fantasy world and she has to make it her new home. The band has put in  many hours of dedicated rehearsal, starting at the beginning of the school year, for their field show performance.

“We had a good director who cared about us and did all that he could do make us the best we could be. We had a great band who put their 100% effort all the time,” senior drum major Alexa Hesch said.

Due to the size of the band and other commitments, the band only performs the field show at halftime of the homecoming game, this system has been in place for several years.
